First picture of the Water Tribe set in Greenland, courtesy of Sermitsiaq! Filming is set to take place between March 23 through April 3, potentially totalling six minutes worth of the final film. It’s also worth noting that the film’s budget is estimated at $250 million! If that’s true, Paramount must have a lot of confidence in the production.

this movies a disgrace to Asians and there culture this movie should have not be made with a mostly white cast it ruins the spirit of the show the characters were all Asian this destroys are chance of having a bigger voice in hollywood

A “disgrace to Asians”?!?! In the cartoon they were NOT all Asians. There are no Asians, Americans, Europeans or Africans or any other “race” like we have in REAL LIFE. There are only the four nations. The fire nation, water tribe and the earth bending kingdom and the air nomads. This is a movie based on a cartoon. I loved the cartoon and eagerly await the movie release. I will not judge the movie solely on who is cast, as you seem to have done, but on the movie its self. Hopefully Night does the cartoon justice as it is one my entire family would sit down to watch together and enjoyed. If you must complain about something to simply complain, I suggest you pick up a newspaer, there’s planty to complain about in there!

ya no kidding, we don’t need to start fretting and getting angry over things we haven’t even seen yet.
I actually am real excited for the movie, me and my bro’s and sister’s al love the show and the actors seem to be really well picked for their respective parts.
from what i’ve seen, Jessica Andres and Keong Sim are within the earth kingdom, and both of them look chinese.
The Fire nation, seems to be centered around Arabic indian people which is pretty cool.
don’t know what the air nomads are about but i think we should just stop hating and just give it a chance,
i think it will turn out great.
there will also be about or over 20 battle scenes is what i hear.

Actually, in the cartoon they were all Asian. This is according to Nickelodeon executives, Mike and Bryan (the creators) and even M. Night Shyamalan himself. Avatar was set in an Asian fantasy world. Paramount’s casting practices discriminated against minorities. Before you assume that the cartoon characters were not ethnically Asian, do some research.

    • Gottfried Von Hammersmark Says:

Asian-influenced fantasy does not necessitate that all the characters are asian, or that ANY characters are Asian.

I mean, L was supposed to be a BRIT. But in the Death Note live action, he was cast as Japanese. Because they cast from what’s available.
