Paramount has sent over the official poster for The Last Airbender, and the official website is now online! It contains wallpapers for the four nations, AIM icons, and the teaser trailer in 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Here is the official synopsis for the film…
Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this struction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.
Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

This synopsis (and others I’ve read) makes it sound as if Aang was actually born 12 years before the beginning of the story, rather than 100 years ago. If that’s the case, it could be so his doubts and fears about being the Avatar can be shown in real-time rather than as flash backs.

Yay!! So excited. I really hope Penguin_factory was wrong. It would totally mess up a lot of the story line.

hmmm…actually, it wouldn’t TOTALLY mess up the story line, ’cause what if (for 12 years) the Airbending Monks kept Aang a sercet and never really told him that he was the avatar, until the fire nation invade and kill the airbenders and then Aang find out then…..that wouldn’t TOTALLY mess up the story line…but they’ll probably change it alittle, though!

You make a very good point, KoNaRuHi. If they did minor changes in it, it wouldn’t ruin it– like your suggestion of keeping it a secret UNTIL the fire nation attacked. I mean, it would remove the coincidental irony of him running away right before they were attacked, therefore making it more realistic.

When I saw the tesser trailer on youtube, I thought it was fake at first, but I relized the graphics were too good to be “just a joke” and the narrator voice was the same guy that played Avatar Roku in the cartoon, even if they do TOTALLY screw the movie up (ex: Dragon Ball Evoloution) I would still go see it and then buy the DVD!

Dood this is great, and from the head shots of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and others, this may be the first live-action movie of an animated series I’ll actually want to see. I hope they don’t do a thing to the storyline and I hope that the synopsis is merely misleading. If Aang is not found in the ice like in the series, if he just shows up at the south pole and meets Katara and Sokka, then it really wouldn’t change much, as he left not long after he found out he was the Avatar. He heard while he was spying on the elders, so if he ran from his fears then and the Fire Nation attacked while he was away, there wouldn’t be much to change. Of course, there are also changes that would have only happened to the world if a hundred years had passed, like the Earth King Buumi, so hopefully the movie will stick to the original story. I hope it won’t be as disappointing as DragonBall.

Um we already know Aang will be frozen in ice, remember? From that concept art video that was posted on this site, they showed Katara/Sokka standing in front of the iceberg that he’s in. So, I don’t think there’s any chance of him NOT being frozen…

well why dont they not just continue the series like : 50 year have past and the world is changing because the avatar has tured bad and only his childeren can stop the ruthless avatar from taking over the world
dat would be fun …lol !!! (just tossing ideas around) but what those guys will do im sure to like it if it has the sweet stoff like in the series like stupid sarcastic sokka and angry sukko and his smartass uncle and aang loving katara does things are what makes avatar more fun so DONT remove that so make the avatar the best animation > movie film !!! ps the series freaking rocked #7 fan
