Even though some people are going to rip at these, I think they look good
July 14, 2009 at 1:27 am |

July 14, 2009 at 1:47 am |

July 14, 2009 at 1:57 am |
Uhm….,Idk.
Wow. Geez. Meh.
July 14, 2009 at 2:11 am |
Hm. Like an alternate reality.Well….it’s not bad. I feel a tiny mix of positive and negative feelings about their movie appearance. Hmm, I guess the right way for me to appreciate it, is as a new Last Airbender of a different dimension. O well, I just gotta wait and see. It might not be exactly like the show, but I hope/wish the essence, or “spirit” of the show is in there somewhere when the movie is out (and get to see how bending looks brought to life). **crosses fingers for the movie to be great hopefully**
July 14, 2009 at 2:15 am |
i think they look good, but i want to see aang in character
July 14, 2009 at 2:30 am |
Noah looks just like aang if you cover is mouth….i think its just that his mouth is really wide…
July 14, 2009 at 2:40 am |
Aang, smile & say “cheese”
July 14, 2009 at 5:07 am |
Huh. I expected Sokka & Katara’s hair to be darker but other than that, they all look good.
July 14, 2009 at 5:49 am |
I’m liking this Noah Ringer kid. Very good pick for the role. And Zuko’s scar is looking mighty. I like Sokka, too. Katara’s not bad, but I’m kinda on the mixed feelings scale for her. Good, nonetheless.
July 14, 2009 at 6:14 am |
These people didn’t actually watch the show before they cast these kids, did they?
July 14, 2009 at 6:30 am |
Okaaay. I don’t really know what to think of this. I’m also kinda mixed on my reactions. But I’ll try not to judge them by their looks and just hope that they act well their parts on the film. *crosses fingers*
July 14, 2009 at 7:44 am |
Agreed. Katara is purty!
And I need to see Aang smiling and, well… being Aang before I can really sign off on Noah Ringer.
July 14, 2009 at 10:42 am |
Okay…
Zuko – At first I was like omg… Dev Patel… Seriously… But now I’m so happy he is paying Zuko. He might not have the same hair style or be as pale skinned but he looks great!
Sokka – To me he (Jackson Rathbone) looks exactly like Sokka. I think he will pull the role off!
Aang – Hmmm… Looks alright I guess. But I’m not to fussed. Aangs not really my favorite character – Zuko is – so I don’t really care what he looks like. My main concern though is he isn’t smiling. I hope they don’t make him full on serious! Would be good to have a cheerful Aang.
Katara – At first I was like “HELL NO!” but Nicola is starting to grow on me. Looks a little younger than she should and a little more pale. But meh.
I’m a major Sokka and Zuko fan. and those too look great in my opinion. So I’m happy! but I’m still really curious as to what Ozia will look like!
July 14, 2009 at 11:36 am |
hmmm I was hoping that sokka and Katara actors were gonna get a tan before they started shooting, but oh well. I don’t want to judge them just by their looks, so I’ll wait and see the movie when it comes out. If they act well and keep the spirit of the series, then I wont mind it at all.
July 14, 2009 at 1:06 pm |
aang andzuko look great. but sokka and look a bit to pale. oh well.
July 15, 2009 at 12:55 am |
well, it wouldnt really be appropriate to have a tan in the arctic, especially if you play a vampire
July 15, 2009 at 10:57 pm
You know eskimos really have a darker skin, like it’s shown on the series, right? If you don’t, google it.
July 30, 2009 at 6:43 pm
First, Eskimo’s usually have dark skin.
Second, I understand what you’re saying about the Vampire thing, because he’s shooting both movies at once, and changing your skin tone from Eskimo dark to Vampire pale at a moments notice just isn’t possible, even with movie magic.
July 14, 2009 at 1:47 pm |
Katara looks way too young and Sokka way too old. They also shoud have a darker skin. And Zuko’s skin should be pale white. Other than that, looking good
July 14, 2009 at 3:13 pm |
Okay……..
It looks pretty good.
But come on, I’m not denying Jackson Rathbone’s acting but he is 26 years old and he’s playing a 16 year old!
I don’t know if people actually care but age does matter!
Let a 17-20 year old play him, fine!
But don’t go all Tom Welling on him and let him play someone 10 years (or in tom’s case- over 10 years- Seasons 1-4 of Smallville) his own age!
There are many actors out there who are more than capable playing Sokka and who happen to be age appropriate, or at least close enough!
He looks like Sokka, sure, but an older version.
How about some more shots to the side of his head, to see if he actuallu shaved the sides like he said he would..
This film will be great, i’m sure, but this is sort of ridiculous.
July 14, 2009 at 5:09 pm |
He’s 24 not 26 and i think he looks pretty good. I was suprised by how much they all looked slightly like their characters because when they were cast i was like “wha?” but now i’m a little more convinced.
So excited for this film
July 14, 2009 at 5:12 pm |
HellBells,
He did shave the side of his head. Look at the more recent photos of him playing with his band. It’s on this site.
July 14, 2009 at 4:49 pm |
Lol I guess I’m the only one who thinks Jackson look way younger than he is… I have 17 year old friens that look older. That, and they said they’d be aging him a bit, which i think is a good way to ground his character. Costumes are beautiful! No complaints there, at all. Zuko looks great too, not that we have a good shot of that scar.
July 14, 2009 at 5:06 pm |
Looks great! We even see so hair loopies there! And does anyone think Katara looks like Michelle Tratchenberg?
July 14, 2009 at 5:26 pm |
I thought the same! Nicola looks like the michelle from Pete & Pete…
and katar and aang look like the same age,, really young!
July 14, 2009 at 9:05 pm |
she does a hell of a lot i thougt it was her and i was like the baddie from gossip girl in avatar that cant work their different people so ok
July 15, 2009 at 1:00 am |

July 14, 2009 at 5:24 pm |
hi, I’m from Vietnam. Nice to visit your blog
July 14, 2009 at 7:16 pm |
Noah Ringer is quite…erm a dead ringer for Aang.
Now, Sokka being played by someone who’s 10 years older ? I dunno. 16 and 26 are quite, quite different.
But, since I’m a movie fan, I know that ages do change when making a movie. Sokka in the series was tasked with protecting the tribe when the other males left. In the series, at that time he was quite young (12 or so) when that happened. Do you really expect that a 12 year old, non bending single kid could defend a water tribe ? And 18 year old would be more capable, and still young enough to be left behind (Being considered too young to go to war, but old enough to defend).
The age just isn’t realistic. That’s why the age should change for Sokka.
Ditto with Zuko. A 13 year exile hunting the Avatar for 3 years ? Come on, that is stretching it.
Sokka’s and Zuko’s character should be aged bumped.
Aang and Katara’s age should not change, and they didn’t. Both are not warriors in the beginning of the series, just kids.
I think the age change is for the better of the movie.
July 15, 2009 at 10:48 pm |
Oh, great point here.
July 30, 2009 at 6:47 pm |
Well if you’re going with that way of thinking, Azula’s age would need to be bumped up big time along with Zuko and Sokka. A 14 year old girl commanding a ship, army, and eventually an entire nation like that while still acting EXTREMELY mature doesn’t make much sense. I always thought of her as anywhere from 18 to 22 years old.
July 14, 2009 at 9:46 pm |
I like that they made Aang and Katara the same age, at least now people won’t try to ship Zuko and Katara anymore. haha I think they wanted to make sure that people knew that wasn’t a possibility. Apart from the fact that Noah isn’t smiling, I like who they choose for Aang. No hair loopies? Noooooooo! Kidding. They could have at least tanned though. Anyways I can’t wait for the film, and could they at least try to make Zuko’s scar more visible.
July 14, 2009 at 11:09 pm |
There are hair loopies, they’re just very short. Probably for practicality.
July 15, 2009 at 3:27 am |
Come on people, be positive! the casting’s pretty good, considering the fact that these cartoon characters are NOT REAL and it would be hard to find people that actually look like them, let alone be able to act. so what you see is what you get! aside from the characters, this movie looks like it’s going to be a hit. stop complaining and support it! what’s done is done.
July 15, 2009 at 5:28 am |
I’m looking forward to this, though a bit disappointed with some of the casting (Zuko), but still, if he puts up a good performance, I won’t argue!
July 15, 2009 at 1:20 pm |
I like beautiful blogs!
