According to toy industry news website, Playthings, Spin Master has been named the worldwide master toy licensee for Paramount Pictures’ The Last Airbender. Using “innovative technology that will enable fans to live out their most memorable moments from this epic film,” Spin Master will produce a comprehensive line of products including action figures, vehicles, and playsets.
Adam Beder, Spin Master’s vice president of licensing, had this to say about film and the deal.
“M. Night Shyamalan and Paramount have done an incredible job of adapting the mythology of Avatar…into an imaginative and visually stunning live-action big-screen fantasy adventure film. It’s a natural fit for us to re-create the magic of the film into an original and creative new toy line that children will love.”

This is TERRIBLE news, not cool! This means that the movie will be appealing to children which means it will probably not be as dramatic as I hoped!

Well, not TOO terrible… I mean, considering what appeals to children nowadays, it could still be epic!

The Dark Knight had toys. Lord of the Rings had toys. Star Wars has toys. All three of those were available at major retailers in massive quantities. The Dark Knight and Star Wars can be found EVERYWHERE in toy form.

I heard there will be a video game specifically for The Last Airbender movie (not the television show) on the Xbox live, and it will be the first video game in 3D.
My source is a manager at a blockbuster store. They don’t lie about these things.

Awesome! I can’t wait to pew pew with Firebender and Earthbender toys!
And I can finally play house with a Hama and Gyatso! This is going to be sweeeet!
Btw, along with movies that have action figures= Check James Cameron’s new Avatar movie. It’s probably going to be the biggest release in HISTORY (if Entourage taught us anything from his release of Aquaman), and even it’s got action figures.
