i kinda expected the earth bending to be a lil cooler…maybe that was just a bad clip
February 5, 2010 at 7:04 am |
If you look closely, you’ll see Appa in the background.
February 5, 2010 at 4:04 pm |
I looked and couldn’t find him.
What time do you see Appa?
February 6, 2010 at 8:25 pm
at 00:10 seconds he’s in the upper left corner. He kicks his tail too.
February 7, 2010 at 5:15 am
Appa is seen on the left in the background at 0:09-0:11. He’s sort of…flailing around.
February 7, 2010 at 10:04 pm
0:09 in the top right corner
February 5, 2010 at 7:06 am |
wow. i love this so much
February 5, 2010 at 7:14 am |
Oops! Looks like fire benders can’t make their own fire. It was drawn from a kind of grill…can’t really think of the right word at the moment….
As for the earthbending, well, that was actually a kind of sandy material, maybe when there are actual rocks around it will look different.
The waterbending was…perfect. It looked amazing. No complaints.
Overall, the effects actually looked really good. I don’t know why, but the fire benders’ inability to conjure fire out of nothing doesn’t really bother me. In the end, it looks pretty awesome. Although I must say, if the earthbenders and waterbenders just used their powers to put out the source fire, then…well…the FN would be kinda out of luck….
Other than that, I didn’t really see much, except that the scene with the southern water tribe holding up the lanterns was an exact reenactment of the picture used in the first season premier opening! Pretty cool. Everything else: I approve. At the moment.
February 6, 2010 at 12:23 am |
about earthbending, if you see closely, you can see a rock coming up, and yes, a lot of sand and dirt flying around
and yes! APPA is finaly seen!
February 8, 2010 at 2:49 am |
Who ever said the fire-benders were unable to create fire? It only showed one 5 second clip of him using fire from a pot the earth benders had.
February 5, 2010 at 8:17 am |
Wow, I’m very impressed. Looks really dark. Some people are fearing the absense of the lighthearted tone, but after seeing this trailer, it is fine by me
effects are great, and coreography…wow. My expectations have risen.
February 5, 2010 at 9:12 am |
I love it!
Its amazing work!!!
February 5, 2010 at 2:25 pm |
It looks amazing but wasn’t it that both the fire benders and air benders could use their bending without any need for any need for like their element to be near by. Unlike water and earth benders who needed their respective elements to do any bending.
February 7, 2010 at 1:20 am |
Well in reality air is every where so what an air bender does is simply to manipulate the most abundant of the all elements. Now concerning the fire bending. I think they did it so that it would be more logical. You see, all the other elements (air, water and earth) Can only be “bent” or manipulated not created. As it is the case on the tv show where fire benders make fire out of thin air. So I think that Shamelan did this cause is a more grounded version of the show and it makes more sense that fire benders would be in the same playing field as their other elemental counterparts and bend not create their respective elements.
February 5, 2010 at 3:27 pm |
So will there be a full trailer out?
February 7, 2010 at 9:22 am |
February 12th, I think.
Attached to that PERCY JACKSON flick.
February 5, 2010 at 5:28 pm |
I think it looked “Dark” cause most of the scenes looked like they where up in the Northern Water Tribe during the Moon Eclipse. Hence The Darkness
February 5, 2010 at 8:41 pm |
0:09 – 0:11
OMG APPA <33
The music kinda ruins the entire trailer, though… -.-;;
February 8, 2010 at 10:00 pm |
um. no it doesn’t. the music was perfect.
February 5, 2010 at 8:42 pm |
Oh, and Appa’s in the top left of the screen if you’re looking at those frames.
February 5, 2010 at 9:07 pm |
Liking the special effects, everything looks really nice. I agree i’m not really liking the Firebenders having to use existing fire, that was what helped make them a match for the other benders, they could bend without having their element there… Oh well, one small gripe with an otherwise awesome trailer.
February 6, 2010 at 10:13 am |
Man. I just can’t wait. Excellent source material + excellent director + excellent cast, of which the starring kid actually knows martial arts= Epicness.!!!
February 6, 2010 at 11:17 pm |
i cryed a little watching this the good cry
February 7, 2010 at 1:28 am |
Who cares if they can’t create their own fire. just have them carry a lighter or some matches and problem solved.
February 7, 2010 at 2:36 am |
I agree with the_voice about the firebending problem. that thing is a cauldron by the way. but overall i think this movie will not disapoint, waterbending looks absolutely perfect, Avatar state was done correctly, and you can see appa at the top left corner at 9:09.
February 7, 2010 at 3:13 am |
its not that they cant make their own fire, he just manipulated the fire next to him. im pretty sure that the firebenders can make their own fire. oh and about the darkness, its probably cause the big fight scene in the movie takes place at night.
February 7, 2010 at 3:14 pm |
Noah Ringer is so epic!!!!
And APPA, oh my gosh, YES!
I can not wait for the full two minute trailer, cause if all this is in 30 seconds imagine the entire movie!
February 7, 2010 at 11:04 pm |
“You are the only one of your kind, the last hope for peace in a world consumed by darkness.”
…Avatar Roku’s voice?
February 8, 2010 at 12:56 am |
I watched this again during the superbowl… what a waste.
Did anyone actually see it who wasn’t looking for it to begin with?
February 8, 2010 at 2:03 am |
I just about missed it actually!
If I didn’t already see it on here, I would’ve been sorely disappointed.
It went so quick that, like I said, didn’t already see it I would’ve missed the entire thing.
But I’m still super excited for the two minute trailer.
Is that supposed to come on after the super bowl or something?
February 8, 2010 at 6:31 am
When did it show, about? I DVR’d it and sweeped through the entire thing. I saw the Robin Hood, Alice, and Shutter Island trailers, but no Airbender and no Iron Man 2. It’s driving me crazy.
February 8, 2010 at 11:09 pm
Nope…. go see Percy Jackson in theaters and apparently its attached to that.
Actually I missed the first fifteen seconds too. I was eating, and my sister was like “sam, look…” and I was just sort of …. well.. disappointed…
February 8, 2010 at 2:51 am |
Yeah it came on like 5 inutes in and NEVER AGAIN. Thank God for this eh?
February 8, 2010 at 3:55 am |
I didn’t even see it during the Superbowl. =/
But in any case I just wanna see the full trailer.
February 8, 2010 at 3:56 am |
wow at first i was a bit dissapointed but actually it looked good. A bit dark and sinister thouhg
Hope it was just the lighting or it was at night! omg APPA! He actually looked pretty good too. I agree w/ The_Voice. The bending looks a little sad but hopfully that will be differnt in the full trailer or the movie! I love the cartoon SO MUCH and i just hope this ‘Night guy does not mess anything up. I will not be upset if it is a disaster, cuz its only the movie version and not the real thing, but still. Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!To see!!!!!!!!!!!! This moive!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakin cool trailer.
February 8, 2010 at 12:01 pm |
its amazing! i love it!!!
i think all the bending is awesome, and yes! there was earth that shot up from the earthbender and obviously there is gonna be dust/dirt because there is usually dust/dirt on earth. its look amazing!!!
but i have to complain a bit, hahaha. everyone does! anyways, i dont like the waterbending snake in the background. the other waterbending was awesome! i dont know, the snake just annoyed me so much! hahaha.
February 8, 2010 at 10:10 pm |
there are 2 waterbenders in the trailer. one of them was bending the other one in the back, you can’t really see him unless you look.
and that’s how the bending was during the northern water tribe battle if you didn’t watch it
February 9, 2010 at 2:39 pm
Nice observation… I didn’t see that until you pointed it out
February 9, 2010 at 8:37 pm |

February 10, 2010 at 6:06 am |
ah.. now if they can do a sneak peak special then that would be even better. can’t wait for the movie
February 10, 2010 at 4:07 pm |
I’ve watched this trailer so many times… and it still doesn’t seem real to me!
It doesn’t feel like on July 2, Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming to movie theaters!
March 1, 2010 at 7:01 pm |
Okay NOW I’m excited. I wish there was more of Katar waterbending.. Yes! APPA is finaly seen! Ah well. It’s still looking better than I though. And I love the tattoo and how it incorporates the spiral air symbol in it.:)
I cant wait to see it! ^.^ This thing looks freakin awesome!
