Tonight’s the big night for Avatar fans lucky enough to live in the US, as The Last Airbender finally hits theaters nationwide at midnight in 2D & 3D! Reviews are already beginning to roll in from advance screenings, and suffice to say things aren’t looking pretty. I will be at the premiere in New York City tonight covering the event! Expect videos from the red carpet, and my in-depth review of the film to pop-up over the course of the 4th of July weekend. Thank you all so much for your support, and be sure to see the film this weekend to judge M. Night Shyamalan’s live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender for yourself.

Some of you may have seen a rogue screenshot floating around the tubes with some surprising news, well it’s true. The folks over at Paramount have released The Last Airbender‘s final credit sheet, revealing everyone’s favorite lightning bending psychotic at last: 21-year-old Summer Bishil! Ms. Bishil’s credits include roles in Hannah Montana, Return to Halloweentown, Crossing Over, and the recently canceled CBS medical drama Three Rivers. In 2007, she was picked by Variety as one of their Top 10 actors to watch. Ms. Bishil was also nominated for the best actress Spirit Award for her role in the film Towelhead.

Paramount Gambles Big With Airbender
June 25, 2010
A recent LA Times Business article has revealed that not only has Paramount invested $150 million into the production of The Last Airbender, but also a gargantuan $130 million into the marketing campaign, making The Last Airbender more than twice as expensive as any of M. Night’s previous films! Paramount Chief Executive Brady Grey doesn’t seem worried.
“Like every filmmaker, Night has had his hits and misses, but I believed in his vision and that he could execute it,” Grey said, adding “It’s a bold step because he had to create a potential new family franchise.”
With an unprecedented cross-promotional marketing campaign between Viacom owned networks Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, Spike TV, and CMT, one can hardly fault him for his optimism. However, Airbender does face stiff competition in the third entry in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, opening a day earlier.
“I’m hoping after they see ‘Eclipse,’ they’ll come see our movie,” Shyamalan said.

Aang Finds His Dæmon
June 18, 2010
Film blog Daemon’s Movies recently released 29 new photos of The Last Airbender, including some really cool behind-the-scenes shots! Things are really beginning to ramp up as we draw ever closer to the July 1st release date! More tv spots have been released in the past few days than I can count, and I really don’t know where to begin!
That being said, please excuse me if I’m tardy with news & such. Between a hectic work schedule, and taking care of my father during and after his surgery, it is going to be hard to keep the site up to speed. Rest assured that Charles will do his best to fill the void.
Anyway, enjoy the pics! (more…)
Autographs & Trailer At Six Flags
June 18, 2010
Our friends at Paramount have provided us with some cool photos of an event held at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in San Francisco, CA on June 17th! Actors Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone were in attendance for a trailer unveiling and to sign autographs for those lucky enough to be there. I just hope they kept Sokka away from all of that meat.
It is unclear at this time when the trailer that was unveiled will be released publicly, if it hasn’t been already. In the meantime, enjoy the sights! (more…)

REVIEW Spin Masters 3 3/4″ Aang & Deluxe Appa
June 13, 2010
As some may have noticed over the last week, the full Last Airbender toy line has begun to make its way into retail stores across the country, most notably Toys R Us. Produced by toymaker Spin Master, the line features five 3 3/4″ scale figures, deluxe Appa & Aang figures, and Aang’s Battle Staff & Ultimate Airmaster roleplay toys.
Having managed to obtain a 3 3/4″ Aang and the deluxe Appa figure (retailing for $7.99 and $17.99 respectively), I must say Spin Master’s efforts are lackluster, if not wholly disappointing. (more…)
